Post-operatory dietary advice

The implantation of the banding is the first step towards a major readjustment in the life style of the patient.
Post- operatory convalescence corresponds to its time of adaptation when the patient learns to change his dietary habits as well as the patient learns to change his dietary habits and his life-style.

Patients will first have to understand the necessity of chewing their food well. They will also have to understand the importance of practising a physical activity for their well being and of including this in their daily life.
During the period of the first post-operatory month, patients will only be able to consume their food if it is in a liquid form or put through a mixer. This will give more time to the body to adapt itself and time for a fibre shell to form itself around the banding, which will keep it firmly in place. By introducing solid food too early in the diet of the patient, the risk of dislocation is increased and the risk of the banding sliding, and consequently the risk of stretching the gastric pocket, which would require another surgical intervention.
